Stomp, splash, slide, dive … This little dinosaur just loves mud! What does a cheeky little dinosaur with a dirty snout do? Why stomp about getting dirtier and dirtier, of course!Children will delight in this dirty dinosaur’s playful antics and just may want to join in with the sniffing, snuffing, shaking, tapping, stamping, splashing and sliding, not to mention the mud!A celebration of messiness and an irresistible read-aloud!
In my class this month, we are learning all about dinosaurs. I love having a dinosaur theme in the classroom because kids just really love dinosaurs. My kids are pretty passionate about all things dinosaur and it's so interesting to watch them want to learn more.
I read this book with the kids in my class on a day when we were just a little too silly to sit and read a longer book. This book is about a little dinosaur who loves getting muddy. The coolest thing about this book is that the art work was made with actual mud! When I told the kids this, they all wanted to make their own mud artwork which we'll have to do another day. Another great thing about this book is that the dinosaur does different actions that the kids can do, too. This was a good way to get the kids moving and wiggling…especially since it was a rainy day and we couldn't go play outside.
I personally love this book but this is a kid review so what do actual kids have to say about it?
"I love how the dinosaur gets all dirty and then he jumps in the water to get clean."
"The dinosaur likes to play in the mud just like us!"
"We tap our tummies like a drum just like the dinosaur did."
This book is everything that makes Children's literature good. It is short and easy to read. The illustrations are so cute. The story is simple to follow. And the children are able to interact with the story.
Overall, my students and I highly recommend this read especially for littles who love dinosaurs.
